Small Groups
Why Small Groups?
Small groups are important for at least two reasons. One, we need each other. Americans are quite individualistic but that is not Biblical. God's humility is astonishing; he created and sustained the universe -- and yet he demands that we need something other than Him -- one another. He has designed us to need fellowship for regular Christian growth. Two, a lot of recent authors have written about the need for Christians to provide a 'communal' witness. They have written about this because it is Biblical and has not been as emphasized as maybe it should have been. In other words, a large part of the church's testimony to the world consists in how Christians function together. Jesus said it this way, "By this all people will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another" (John 13:35).
